Hey there! You're about to embark on an exciting adventure to discover more about yourself and potential career paths. The Defined Aptitude Test is designed just for 8th and 9th grade students like you, to help you understand your strengths, interests, and what you value in a future job.

What's This Test All About?

The Defined Aptitude Test has two main parts:

  1. Interests and Values Discovery
  • This part helps you figure out what you like and what's important to you in a job.
  • It's all about your preferences and what makes you unique!
  1. Aptitude Explorer
  • This part looks at your natural abilities in different areas.
  • It's not about what you know, but about your potential to learn and excel in various skills & abilities.

How Does It Work?

Interests and Values Discovery

You'll answer questions about:

  • Your favorite school subjects
  • Activities you enjoy
  • What's important to you in a future job
  • Your thoughts about careers
  • There are no right or wrong answers here – just be honest about what you like and value!

Aptitude Explorer

This part includes different types of tasks and questions to explore your abilities in areas like:

  • Understanding and using language
  • Working with numbers
  • Solving problems
  • Remembering information
  • Visual & Spatial Awareness
  • Physical abilities
  • Some questions might be challenging, and that's okay! Just do your best.

Taking the Test

Your teacher will let you know when and how you'll take the test. Here are some tips:

  • You might do it all in one day (about 90 minutes) or spread it out over a few days.
  • You can take breaks between sections if you need to.
  • Use a computer or tablet with a keyboard and headphones.
  • Read each question carefully.
  • Don't stress! This isn't a pass/fail test – it's all about discovering more about you.

What Happens After the Test?

Once you're done, you'll get a cool report that shows:

  • Your top interests
  • What you value most in a job
  • Areas where you have strong potential
  • Careers that might be a good fit for you
  • You'll also get suggestions for next steps, like courses you might enjoy or activities to try.

Using Your Results

Your results are a starting point for exploring careers. Here's what you can do:

  • Talk with your teachers or counselors about your results
  • Research the careers suggested in your report
  • Try out some of the Defined Careers courses linked to your matches
  • Think about classes or activities you might want to try in high school
  • Remember, your interests, values, and abilities can all change over time, so you might take this test again in the future to see how you've grown!
