This document is intended to provide examples of computer science tasks that integrate skills & standards within Math, Science, ELA and Social Studies. The integration of computer science and digital tools allows students to build authentic connections.
K-2 Computer Science
Topic | Task | Task Description |
Math | Store Owner: Ice Cream Store | In this task students will use computational thinking to decompose a problem and use algorithmic thinking to create a plan for an ice cream store. Products in this task nclude a menu, infographic and survey to collect data. |
Science | Scientist: Reptile House | In this task students will use basic research skills to learn about reptiles. They will communicate information about reptiles to an audience. Products in this task include a digital presentation, infographic and poster. |
English Language Arts | Computer Programer: Cartoon Creator | In this task students will use computational thinking to decompose a problem and use algorithmic thinking to develop an app. Products in this task include a scene, narration and storyboard. |
Social Studies | Technology Museum | In this task, students will look at technology and how it has changed over time. Products in this task include a model, poster and presentation. |
